Apapa Command Customs collects N1.6tn revenue in Q3

The Apapa Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service said it collected N1.6 trillion in revenue by the end of the third quarter of 2024, compared to the N1.172 trillion collected as total revenue for the year 2023.

The Command's spokesperson, Usman Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Commenting on the development, the Comptroller of the Command, Babatunde Olomu, provided a breakdown, noting that N201.8 billion was collected in July and N193.9 billion in September 2024.

He expressed confidence that the Command could surpass its third-quarter revenue performance in the final quarter of the year.

"Our revenue collection is good, and I know we can do better with more impressive results in the last quarter of 2024. I want to thank our compliant stakeholders for their cooperation in supporting us to achieve this level of collection."

He added, "Reduced smuggling activities affirm the compliance we are celebrating, and I can say the best is yet to come. We are not letting our guard down. Our vigilance is airtight, which demonstrates our capacity to detect smuggling and make seizures.

"As we facilitate trade, our anti-smuggling activities are conducted side by side, leveraging our non-intrusive technology for cargo scanning and conducting physical examinations when necessary. Let me also state that these standards and procedures are strictly adhered to in all bonded terminals under our control," Comptroller Olomu said.
