According to a report by the Times of Israel, a Hamas rocket struck central Israel on Monday, lightly wounding two women in their 30s, according to medics. The Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulance service reported that the women were injured by shrapnel from the explosion and are in good condition as they are transported to Asaf Harofeh Hospital for further treatment.
The attack follows the launch of five rockets from Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirming that Hamas was responsible for the rocket fire. While Israel's air defense systems were activated, not all rockets were intercepted.
This incident marks the latest escalation in tensions between Israel and militant factions in Gaza. Central Israel, where the attack occurred, is densely populated, raising significant concerns among local authorities about civilian safety. In recent years, rocket fire from Gaza has frequently targeted various parts of Israel, often resulting in retaliatory strikes from the IDF.
Magen David Adom responded quickly to the scene, providing medical assistance before transferring the victims to the hospital. Local authorities have urged residents to remain in secure shelters amid ongoing tensions.
