EPL Team of the Week For Matchday 7 as Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool Stars Makes List

According to Man Utd News, Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has included a Manchester United defender in his latest Team of the Week for BBC Sport.

Manchester United, who are now without a win in their last five matches, managed a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park. While the team's offensive struggles continued, their defensive resilience led to their first clean sheet in over two weeks.

Among the standout players was Jonny Evans, but Deeney opted to highlight Diogo Dalot's contribution instead.

"He hasn't been great this season but has been very consistent for Manchester United over the last couple of years," Deeney said.

"Whether he's at left-back or right-back, he plays really well. He helped his team to get a good point at high-flying Aston Villa, and a result Manchester United really needed."

Dalot has often featured as a left-back this season, a position where his performances have been up and down.

His defensive positioning was notably off in a recent match against Tottenham Hotspur, yet manager Erik ten Hag continues to trust the Portuguese international, especially with Luke Shaw still recovering from injury and Tyrell Malacia not fully fit.

In the Villa match, Dalot delivered an impressive performance, winning 100% of his ground duels and tackles, while also making three clearances.

His more traditional left-back role paid off, contrasting with previous games where he was caught out when trying to move into midfield.

As Dalot heads off for international duty with Portugal, Manchester United will prepare for their next Premier League fixture against Brentford following the international break.
