Three #EndBadGovernance protesters regain freedom from Kuje prison

Three of the activists charged by the Nigerian government for their involvement in the #EndBadGovernance protests from August 1 to 10 have regained their freedom.

The activists, Michael Tobiloba Adaramoye, known as "Lenin," Mosiu Sadiq, and Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo Simeon, were released from Kuje Prison after fulfilling their bail conditions.

The release of the three activists was confirmed by fellow activist Francis Nwapa, who expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by supporters during their time in detention.

Nwapa tweeted, "Comrade Michael Adaramoye Lenin, the National Coordinator of Youth Rights Campaign (YRC), and Mosiu Sadiq has just left Kuje Prison. Thank you all for the solidarity! We will continue to push till everyone is released. Solidarity!"

Omoyele Sowore, a prominent human rights activist and convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, also shared the news, stating, "Three of our comrades who've languished in prison for partaking in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria revolt have just fulfilled their bail conditions.

"We eagerly await the final release of others, including Isaac Bristol, as soon as possible."

The #EndBadGovernance protests were a nationwide movement aimed at demanding improved governance and an end to detrimental economic policies affecting ordinary Nigerians.

Activists organized demonstrations across major cities, including Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe, exercising their constitutional right to peaceful assembly as enshrined in Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.

However, the protests were met with a heavy-handed response from law enforcement, with many activists brutally arrested and charged.

On September 11, the court granted bail to the ten defendants under strict conditions, requiring each to post N10 million and provide a surety of the same amount.
