In a recent statement, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has again warned politicians from interfering in Rivers State politics.
Speaking at a civic reception in Port Harcourt organized by the Rivers Ijaw People's Congress, Wike stated that Rivers State is important to him, and any external interference would lead to consequences.
Wike expressed frustration with certain People's Democratic Party (PDP) governors, saying they are now upset about the outcome of the Edo State governorship election.
He mocked them, claiming that they were more focused on holding meetings in Enugu and Taraba states instead of managing their own elections.
He criticized these governors for their lack of focus and for interfering in other states' affairs.
The minister also revealed that there had been an attempt to disrupt the civic reception.
Wike accused these people of promoting violence in Rivers State and warned that no one has a monopoly on violence.
Wike further criticized the opposition for taking credit for projects he initiated.
He specifically mentioned the ring road project, which he claimed was started during his time as governor of Rivers State, and he was continuing similar development efforts in Abuja.
"I told them if you put your hand in Rivers State matter, fire will burn you. Today, they are crying everywhere. Instead of concentrating on how to win elections in their states, they were busy having meetings in Enugu and Taraba states. Who is losing now?" he said.
