Embattled American rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been placed on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in New York.
Diddy was reportedly placed on suicide watch for preventative measures.
We reported that the 54-year-old who was arrested on Monday is currently facing federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
On Tuesday, Robyn Tarnofsky, the US magistrate judge, ordered that Diddy be sent to jail to await trial.
However, on Friday, Diddy's attorney, Marc Agnifilo, told TMZ that the suicide watch directive by MDC officials was merely a routine measure for "new, high-profile inmates."
Agnifilo, who noted that he spent six hours with Diddy at the federal lockup on Thursday, said of the rapper:
"[He's] not at all suicidal. He was healthy, strong, confident and focused on his defense."
The report did not reveal how long Diddy will remain under suicide watch.
