'From paying N30 to watch Champions League to playing It' - Boniface after Leverkusen crush Feyenoord 4-0

Bayer Leverkusen made an incredible return to the Champions League, thrashing Feyenoord 4-0 in their group stage opener.

Nigerian forward Victor Boniface, who played a crucial role in the win, expressed his pride in making his Champions League debut.

"From paying 30 naira to watch Champions League football for night back then for 323 Army Barracks in Akure, to playing my first Champions League game. Proud of this moment," Boniface posted on X after the match.

Leverkusen took control of the encounter early, with Florian Wirtz opening the scoring after a mistake by Feyenoord's Ramiz Zerrouki.

Boniface's clever dummy led to Jeremie Frimpong setting up Alejandro Grimaldo for the second.

Wirtz scored again, and an own goal by Timon Wellenreuther made it 4-0 by halftime.

Despite a quieter second half, Leverkusen comfortably saw out the win, denying Feyenoord any real chances.

This victory marks a strong start for the Bundesliga champions in Europe, as they prepare for their upcoming Bundesliga clash with Wolfsburg.
