Man Utd held talks to sign £21.2million player - Report

Juanlu Sanchez

If there is one thing, we have learnt about the INEOS ownership at Manchester United so far, it is that they aren't afraid of splashing the cash in the transfer market.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe backed Erik ten Hag immensely in the recently concluded window, signing five new players.

Man Utd also constantly on the lookout for other options in the market who can improve the overall quality of the squad and have now stumbled upon Juanlu Sanchez. The 21-year-old Spaniard was recently on international duty at the Olympic games.

As per ABC Sevilla, Manchester United have held talks to sign the versatile Spaniard who has a £21.2m release clause. His impressive performance during his gold-medal run to the Olympics seem to have caught the Red Devils' eyes.

Juanlu Sanchez is extremely versatile and can help Man Utd kill multiple birds with one stone. He can play anywhere across the right flank, in defense, midfield and attack and is also used to playing in a more central role.

The youngster is a fundamentally intelligent footballer who is capable of playing in different positions on the pitch. Being Spanish, his technical ability is already well rounded and he might be ready to make a move to a big club in the near future.

While the idea of Manchester United investing in the youngster is not wrong, it is important that they plan his future out to ensure he gets regular game time.

The Red Devils can take a leaf from Liverpool's playbook and do the same that the Merseyside club did with Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Man Utd can pay Juanlu Sanchez's reasonable release clause and loan him back to Sevilla or any other club where they think his development will be well served. Let's see how the Red Devils go about their pursuit of the 21-year-old Spaniard.
