Ballon d'Or: He didn't win anything - Darren Bent slams organizers for including Chelsea star

Former England striker, Darren Bent, has hit out at organizers of the Ballon d'Or over Chelsea star Cole Palmer's nomination for this year's award.

Bent suggested that since Palmer neither won a trophy with Chelsea nor started for England, the 22-year-old should not have made the shortlist.

Palmer recently made the shortlist of the top 30 players in the world for the 2024 Ballon d'Or award alongside the likes of Rodri, Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

The former Manchester City star scored 27 goals and provided 15 assists in 48 games last season but failed to win any trophy with Chelsea or England.

"For Chelsea, domestically, was brilliant. He [Palmer] didn't win anything," Bent said on talkSPORT.

"He doesn't play in Europe. He doesn't start for his country. How are you one of the 30 best players in the world?"
