Nations League: I'm disappointed - Man City player reacts as Carsley excludes him from England squad

Manchester City defender, Kyle Walker, has admitted he was 'disappointed' not to be called-up to the England squad for their Nations League matches against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday and Finland on Tuesday.

Recall that England interim manager, Lee Carsley recently released his squad and omitted Walker, who was part of the Three Lions' Euro 2024 squad that lost to Spain in the final some weeks ago.

Reacting, Walker also conceded that Carsley had made 'the right call'.

"Obviously with a new manager and everything like that, you are always expecting a few changes," Walker said on his podcast, You'll Never Beat Kyle Walker.

"I'm obviously disappointed because representing your country is always the highest things, and especially for England when we are doing so well.

"But I have not played many minutes this season, so you have to take it on the chin. [Carsley] was really nice and gave me a ring a couple of hours before the squad was announced, and we just had a conversation."

The 34-year-old added,

"I said, 'I'm on 90 caps and I want to be involved'. But I think it is on performance and merit. I think it is the right call."
