'It feels like a betrayal' - Man Utd supporters angered by picture taken by player after Liverpool

Manchester United supporters are furious with Lisandro Martinez after he posted on Instagram following his side's heavy 3-0 loss to Liverpool

Manchester United supporters are furious with Lisandro Martinez after he took to Instagram following the Red Devils' defeat to Liverpool. A Luis Diaz brace and further strike from Mohamed Salah saw Arne Slot's men ran out emphatic 3-0 winners at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Argentina international completed the full 90 minutes for Erik ten Hag's side as Liverpool ran riot. The win sees the Reds sit second in the table with an 100% winning record after three games played, behind Man City on goals scored alone, while United are down in 14th after losing two of their matches.

Liverpool's win at United marked the Premier League's final match before the September international break.

Martinez was one of numerous players to depart for international duty following his side's loss at Old Trafford.
Named in Lionel Scaloni's Argentina squad alongside club-mate Alejandro Garnacho, he took to Instagram on Monday to mark his latest international call-up by posting two pictures of himself arriving for duty.

"At home," he wrote in the accompanying caption, while also posting a smiling emoji.

However, his choice of second picture has not gone down well with Manchester United supporters.

The defender was all-smiles when posing with international team-mate Alexis Mac Allister less than 36 hours after the Liverpool midfielder had helped his side thrash the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Unsurprisingly, supporters made their feelings known in the comments section on the post.

"The guy just beat us 3-0 bro don't be uploading a pic with him the very next day," one supporter wrote. "Feels like a betrayal," added a second.

"No shame posting with a Liverpool player after the game, crazy poor from you butcher," said a third.

A fourth commented: "These players don't care if we lose. Shameless players," while a fifth said: "As much as I admire you Licha but that pic with a player from a team, a rival that just beat us 3-0 two days ago is kind of unnecessary."

"Licha I love you to bits, but this is not it man!" said a sixth. "You have been s**t all season you play for Manchester United and we have just been smacked around come on Licha!"

Another supporter vented: "What's this guy doing? The whole Manchester United fans and owners are fuming and you have the audacity to do this?"

"This is hardly surprising I mean they all go around hugging each other in the tunnels before the game even starts it's pathetic," another fan said. "There is no desire or hunger/real genuine fight in the games anymore, they pretend to care and them get paid a fortune and go home they could care less about how passionate real fans feel about these things let's be honest."

"Guy cooked you on Sunday and you are in smiles with him," one fan said. "Manu is finished," while one called for Roy Keane to 'sort him out', as he bemoaned that Martinz had posted a photo with 'this guy' after 'they just pumped us 3-0'.

Argentina host Chile in their latest 2026 World Cup qualifier in the early hours of Friday morning, before travelling to face Luis Diaz's Colombia next Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Martinez and Manchester United are back in action away at Southampton in the dreaded 12.30pm kick-off slot on Saturday 14 September, with Mac Allister and Liverpool welcoming Nottingham Forest to Anfield at 3pm the same day.
