Transfer deadline day: Erik ten Hag blocks Man United from selling 2 stars

Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag blocked two players from leaving the club on transfer deadline day.

The Red Devils brought in Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain and sold Scott McTominay on deadline day.

They paid £50.5m to PSG for Ugarte, while academy graduate McTominay was allowed to move to Napoli for £25m.

However, more players were about to use the Old Trafford exit door on deadline day but Ten Hag quickly blocked the club from letting Antony and Christian Ericsson leave.

Daily Mail reports that La Liga side, Real Betis were in England with loan offers for both Ericsson and Antony but were soon told there was no chance either would be permitted to leave.

Brazilian winger, Antony, who joined the Red Devils two seasons ago, has endured a dismal spell at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has failed to get any minutes in Manchester United's Premier League opener against Fulham before coming on as a late substitute in last weekend's defeat to Brighton.

Despite only being on the Amex pitch for a few minutes, Antony was criticised for his role in Brighton's injury-time winner.
