NNPCL to handover Warri, Kaduna refineries

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Limited has unveiled plans to hand over the operation and maintenance of Warri and Kaduna refineries to a private firm.

The oil company announced this on Friday on its official X handle.

According to the NNPCL, interested bidders of both refineries would provide operations and Maintenance services.

"For the Provision of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Services for NNPC Limited Refineries (Combined Tender): Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC), and Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC)."

"The organization is also expected to have a length of experience with 'Product Tanks/Storage Facilities Maintenance' and 'Commissioning/Start-Up/Post Commissioning/Turnaround Experience", the notice partly reads.

The Warri and Kaduna refineries have 125,000 barrels per day and 110,000 barrels per day capacity.

While the Warri refinery was commissioned in 1983, the Kaduna refinery was inaugurated in 1980.

The development comes as the Chief Financial Officer of NNPCL, Umar Ajiya recently announced September 2024 as the fresh date for commercial production in Port Harcourt Refinery.
