'I'm going to Man United', 'Messi is a midget', crypto scam and other SHOCKING tweets from Kylian Mbappe's official X account

Kylian Mbappe's official X account seemed a target of a cyberattack in the early hours of Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Kylian Mbappe's X (FKA Twitter) account was seemingly hacked, as posts uncharacteristic of the player's brand were released through the account.

The 25-year-old, who recently made a sensational move to Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain, typically uses his account to share training or match action pictures. Occasionally, he also shares promotional posts.

His last authentic post seemingly came on August 14, when he took to the microblogging platform to share pictures of himself and some Real Madrid teammates celebrating the UEFA Super Cup triumph over Atalanta-his first trophy as a Los Blancos.

In the early hours of August 29th, tweets untypical of the player's regular professional posts were released through the account.

The posts included football banter, activism, antisemitism and even a possible crypto scam. A spate of messy posts-or more aptly, 'sh*tposting'-as it is described on the platform-were released sporadically, typical of cyberattack activity.

The first of these posts was "Who am I following back?" which was odd but not flagrant enough to raise red flags.

The Kylian Mbappe official X account went on to shout out some football influencers, troll Manchester City, and big up their crosstown rivals Manchester United.

Mbappe is famously a Cristiano Ronaldo fan, but he holds his former teammate, Lionel Messi, in high regard. However, the account was used to tweet, "Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest football player of all time. This midget (Messi) is not my GOAT.

The account was also used to push antisemitic sentiments like "The Jews own football." The perceived hackers were evidently on the side of Palestine in the current conflict in the Middle East; the account was used to tweet "Free Palestine," and the particular post was well received.

The most problematic post pushed with the account, however, was a tweet that asked people to send cryptocurrency assets to a listed address with the promise of doubling upon receiving. Given Mbappe's status and the global trust in his brand, unsuspecting individuals could oblige and possibly lose their savings.

The account seems to have been recovered by Mbappe's team at the time of publishing, but certain posts are still accessible.
