Jude Bellingham is out injured for around one month and fans fear something not of this world is behind the blow.
Bellingham was struck down in training as he was looking to kick-start a second successful season at Real Madrid.
He'd already added a UEFA Super Cup to the Champions League and LaLiga title he won last term.
Now he's been stopped in his tracks by a cruel injury.
A statement from Madrid read: "Following tests carried out today on Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid's medical team, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantaris muscle in his right leg. His progress will be monitored."
"[Bellingham] got a knock," manager Carlo Ancelotti added. "We're evaluating it."
And some are joking he might soon be the latest victim of the Kim Kardashian curse.
That's because, as the England international begins his rehabilitation, he met the reality TV superstar and esteemed businesswoman.
Bellingham became one of the new faces of Kardashian's shapewear and clothing brand SKIMS back in June.
And with the American's children, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm, being keen football fans it was no surprise that the duo would finally meet.
This week, Kardashian posted pictures of herself and her sons at Real Madrid's training.
As well as a selfie with Bellingham, she took snaps with Eduardo Camavinga, Vinicius Jr, and David Alaba.
But her presence alarmed some fans who are acutely aware of an apparent 'Kardashian curse'.
It all started in 2023 when she and her family went to watch Arsenal play Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League, with the Gunners going out of the competition that night on penalties.
Footage shows Jude Bellingham's half-time message to Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo during Real Madrid's La Liga game against RCD Mallorca
Later that week the family took in a Paris Saint-Germain game - but saw them lose 2-0 to Rennes, a result which ended a 35-game unbeaten record at home.
Meanwhile, Manchester United and Roma have also lost game after Kardashian sported some of their merchandise.
So Bellingham and Real Madrid will now be hoping they don't endure similar pain.
