Super Eagles forward admits not being 100% fit ahead of AFCON qualifiers: 'There's a little pain'

Nantes winger Moses Simon has revealed that he is not yet 100% fit ahead of Nigeria's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda, according to Afrik-Foot.

Simon, who suffered a fractured fibula in March, made his return to action in July and has since featured in all five of Nantes' pre-season matches, scoring two goals. He also started in the club's Ligue 1 opener against Toulouse last week, playing 75 minutes before being substituted.

However, the 29-year-old has admitted that he is still experiencing some pain, casting doubts over his readiness for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.

"There's a little pain, but I'm working hard to get back to full fitness," Simon said.

Simon's fitness level will be a key factor in his selection for the Super Eagles squad, with coach Jose Peseiro set to announce his team list soon.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the Super Eagles will face Benin on September 6 and Rwanda on September 10 in their opening AFCON qualifiers.

Simon's return to fitness is a boost for Nigeria, but his admission of not being 100% fit raises concerns about his readiness for the crucial qualifiers.
