African football legend Samson Siasia is set to make a surprise return to the Super Eagles setup, six days after completing a five-year ban from football.

Samson Siasia Back In Super Eagles Setup As Part Of Eguavoen's Interim Crew For AFCON Qualifiers

According to report, Siasia will join Austine Eguavoen's interim coaching crew for the upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Eguavoen, the Nigeria Football Federation's (NFF) technical director, will lead the team for both games, with Siasia serving as one of his assistants.

Siasia's inclusion in the interim setup comes as a shock, given his recent ban for match-fixing allegations. However, with his ban now lifted, he is free to return to his role on the dugout.

The move is being pushed by the camp of Sports Minister Senator John Enoh, who will play a key role in approving the interim coaches for the games against Benin Republic and Rwanda on September 7 and 10, respectively.

Siasia's return to the Super Eagles setup may raise eyebrows, but his experience and expertise could be valuable assets for the team in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.

The NFF is still searching for a permanent coach for the Super Eagles, and Siasia's inclusion in the interim setup may be seen as a temporary solution.

However, with his ban now lifted, Siasia may be considered for a role in the team's coaching staff even after the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
