Donald Trump and some Americans have slammed Kamala Harris for her repetition of the phrase 'Thank you' before she began her speech at the Democratic National Convention speech Thursday night, August 22.
Harris said 'Thank you' a total of 27 times before she even began her speech. She did so while thanking the crowd for welcoming her.
The audience could be heard cheering 'Ka-ma-la' and 'U-S-A', but Harris tried to stop them, saying 'Let's get down to business.' She ended up saying another four 'thank yous' at the start of her speech for friends and family members.
'Too many "Thank yous," too rapidly said, what's going on with her?' wrote Trump, himself a seasoned practitioner of big rallies from years of campaigning.
Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany's sister also noticed the apparent tic, writing: 'How many times did Kamala just say thank you?'
A Twitter user, Meme'nOnLibs joked: 'Kamala spending 5 minutes saying "Thank you" because she has nothing else to say'.
Trump also amused his followers with another TruthSocial post saying 'IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ME?' The former president was evidently listening to the speech.
Other Americans quipped in to question why she was using the "thank you'' phrase a lot with some saying she was nervous.
Meanwhile, Trump continued to attack his rival, taking a shot at her biography of serving as San Francisco District Attorney before becoming California Attorney General.
