Portugal star, Bernardo Silva snubs Ronaldo as he names his football idol

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has named his football idol, ignoring his Portuguese teammate and captain, Cristiano Ronaldo.

He picked former Argentina International, Pablo Aimar as his idol

Silva has never played in Argentina, the home country of his idol.

But during an interview with ESPN Argentina, the Portugal International said he was mesmerized by Aimar as a kid.

Most players of this generation are choosing either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, regarded widely as the greatest players of all time, as their football idols.

"My idol? I really liked watching Pablo Aimar when I was a kid... I really like him," Bernardo Silva said.

The Manchester City midfielder further revealed which Argentine club among Boca Juniors and River Plate was his favorite from the Superclásico.

"Boca or River? I don't have favourite, but my idol is Pablo Aimar and I really like Saviola, so I like River Plate more," Bernardo added.
