The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been dealt another injury blow ahead of their 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda. Ola Aina, a key full-back for the team, has been ruled out of the games due to a suspected calf injury sustained during Nottingham Forest's Premier League opener against Bournemouth.

This comes on the heels of the news that Terem Moffi, a striker for the team, will be out for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury. Moffi was a crucial player for the Super Eagles during the 2023 AFCON, where they finished as runners-up.

Aina's injury is expected to keep him out for three weeks, which means he will miss the crucial qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda. The Super Eagles will host Benin Republic on September 7th before traveling to Rwanda three days later.

New coach Janne Andersson will have to find a replacement for Aina, who has been a regular starter for the team. This is a significant blow to the team's chances in the qualifiers, given Aina's experience and importance to the team's defense.

The Super Eagles are seeking to qualify for the 2025 AFCON after their impressive run in the previous edition. However, the injuries to Moffi and Aina have dealt a significant blow to their chances. Andersson will have to rally his team and find suitable replacements for the injured players if they hope to succeed in the qualifiers.
