Manchester United remain focused on bolstering their midfield as the transfer window inches closer to it's deadline, with hopes of making huge strides this week, according to Manchester World.
The club has prioritized bringing in a new midfielder, with Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte emerging as the primary target.
United's pursuit of Ugarte had stalled due to PSG's firm stance on their €60 million valuation of the player.
However, there is renewed optimism that a deal could be reached, especially as PSG looks to reshape their squad under new manager Luis Enrique.
Following the acquisition of Joao Neves from Benfica, Enrique has indicated that Ugarte, who was brought to Paris only a year ago, does not figure into his plans moving forward.
With PSG under pressure to offload players, United are hopeful they can negotiate a more favorable deal.
This could involve either a reduced transfer fee or a loan arrangement with an option to buy. United are determined not to overpay and are exploring all avenues to secure Ugarte without exceeding their budget.
In addition to potential signings, United are also looking to trim their squad. Facundo Pellistri is close to finalizing a permanent move to Panathinaikos, with discussions in advanced stages.
Meanwhile, Victor Lindelof and Hannibal Mejbri, who were absent from the squad in their recent match against Fulham, are also being considered for departure.
Christian Eriksen's future at the club remains uncertain, though there has been limited interest in the Danish playmaker.
While there are several clubs interested in Scott McTominay, manager Erik ten Hag is reluctant to let the midfielder go unless a club meets United's £30 million asking price.
The possibility of Jadon Sancho leaving is also on the table, but it would require a financially beneficial package that addresses both the transfer fee and his substantial wage demands.
