In a recent interview with Arise News, Hon. Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, a former APC governorship aspirant in Edo State, strongly defended fellow APC candidate Monday Okpebholo against what he described as unfair criticisms and blackmail. Okpebholo, who has faced accusations of being unqualified for the governorship, was staunchly supported by Agbonayinma, who emphasized his grassroots influence and prior contributions to the community.

Agbonayinma criticized those who dismissed Okpebholo as merely a "plumber" incapable of understanding complex financial documents, stating, "These are blackmails and it's unfair to say he's a plumber and cannot read a balance sheet." He drew parallels to his own experience when his candidacy was questioned due to his heritage, saying, "When I was contesting, they said I'm not from Edo, I'm an Ibo man."

He further underscored Okpebholo's deep roots in the community and his longstanding commitment to helping people even before entering politics. "The guy is a grassroot shooter. He was helping people before he joined politics," Agbonayinma remarked, highlighting Okpebholo's connection with the people as a key factor in his candidacy.

Agbonayinma also pointed out that Okpebholo has received attention from various media outlets, suggesting that when the time comes, he will adequately address any concerns raised by his critics. "When the time comes and he's opportuned, definitely he'll come. Not only Arise, you've other TV stations that are calling him," he noted.
