According to Times of Israel, The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reported that approximately 55 rockets were fired from Lebanon by Hezbollah, targeting the northern Israeli community of Ayelet HaShahar. Despite the intensity of the attack, there were no injuries reported.
However, the IDF stated that some of the rocket impacts in open areas ignited fires, prompting the Israel Fire and Rescue Services to respond to the scene and work on extinguishing the blazes.
This latest incident comes amid heightened tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, with both sides engaging in a series of attacks and counterattacks in recent months. Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate for the assassination of its top commander, Fuad Shukr, in an Israeli airstrike on a Beirut suburb last month.
The IDF has intensified its operations against Hezbollah, aiming to disrupt the group's military capabilities and retaliate for cross-border attacks. This barrage of rockets marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, raising concerns about a potential full-blown war.
As the situation remains volatile, the international community has called for restraint from both sides to prevent a broader regional escalation. However, with Hezbollah determined to avenge its fallen commanders and the IDF committed to defending its citizens, the prospect of a ceasefire appears uncertain in the near future.
