Leader of cult group lands in Ogun police net

A man described as leader of a cult group terrorizing residents of an area in Ogun State was on Friday, August 16, 2024, arrested by men of the state police command after days of manhunt.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Omolola Odutola, who disclosed the development on her X handle on Friday, said the leader of the group, whose name was given as Olamilekan Akojede, aged 35 years, was arrested by police operatives from the Oja Odan Division.

According to her, the man, said to be Number One of the Alora Confraternity, was arrested aa about 2:30 p.m. on Friday and he was said to have terrorized residents of Oja Odan community before his arrest.

The Police PRO added that he had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation about his nefarious activities and he is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the interrogation.

The Police PRO wrote: "An Alora Confraternity Number One has been apprehended by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Oja Odan. One Olamilekan Akojede, a 35-year-old, who has terrorized Oja Odan, was picked up at about 2:30 p.m. today and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation."

The state police command has been grappling with activities of cult groups in many parts of the state who terrorize residents. They also engage in supremacy battles that usually ends in killing members of the rival groups.
