Obi Demands Answers Over Seizure of Presidential Jets, Challenges Federal Government to Come Clean

According to report, Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 General Election, has taken to social media to express his outrage and disappointment over the recent seizure of the Nigerian government's presidential jets in France. The seizure was carried out by a Chinese firm, Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited, which had secured an order from a Judicial Court in Paris.

Obi described the development as an "international embarrassment" that exposes the multiple dimensions of leadership failure in Nigeria. He lamented that Nigerians were kept in the dark about the purchase and sale of the aircraft, and that the federal government went ahead with the deal despite widespread criticism and economic hardship in the country.

The former governor of Anambra State questioned the transparency and accountability of the federal government in managing public assets, stating that the presidential jets were treated as personal property rather than assets belonging to the people. He also expressed concern about the abuse and disrespect for the rule of law in Nigeria, citing the UK court ruling that prohibited some Nigerian buildings in Liverpool and the French court action that led to the seizure of the presidential jets.

Obi challenged the federal government to come clean and be transparent about the matter, asking several questions about the agreement between the Ogun state government and the Chinese firm, and the actions taken by the federal government before the French court action. He demanded that the government provide answers to these questions and explain how Nigeria got into this "latest international mess".
