Man United strengthened their defensive options with the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui on Tuesday evening.
Lisandro Martinez has said he is "so excited" by the additions of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to Manchester United's squad.
The duo finalised their moves to Old Trafford on Tuesday, both joining the club from Bayern Munich. De Ligt has signed a deal until 2029 and Mazraoui has committed his future to the club until 2028.
Both players have significantly strengthened United's defensive options, following the loss of Leny Yoro to injury and Aaron Wan-Bissaka's move to West Ham United.
Martinez, who joined United two years ago, played alongside Mazraoui at Ajax and arrived at the Dutch club just weeks before De Ligt joined Juventus in 2019, meaning he has plenty of knowledge about both players. And he is confident that both players will fit Erik ten Hag's style of play, describing them as "special".
"I'm so excited about Matthijs and Noussair," Martinez told BBC Sport. "We are here to help them and they are really good players, that's why Manchester United bought them and they will show [that] quickly because they have really good qualities and they like to play football and they are special for our system.
"I think Matthijs will give us a strong personality, playing from the back, defending high, I can't wait to play with him."
Both De Ligt and Mazraoui could make their United debuts when Fulham visit Old Trafford for Friday night's Premier League opener. United are currently light on full-back options and Mazraoui can play at either right-back or left-back.
De Ligt, meanwhile, is the favourite to become Martinez's first-choice centre-back partner. Yoro, who was signed from Lille last month, faces three months on the sidelines after successfully undergoing surgery on a fractured metatarsal.
