10/10 transfer window could elude West Ham with Manchester United in for 'unreal' France international

West Ham United have already experienced an incredible summer transfer window, but now Manchester United could be set to deal us a blow.

Kudos to Julen Lopetegui, Tim Steidten and David Sullivan for bringing so many top-class players to West Ham in the summer transfer window so far.

However, it definitely could get even better with one final push from the powers that be at the London Stadium.

Despite criticism from Richard Keys regarding what he says has been a lack of value for money for West Ham in the market, I personally think we've spent very well indeed.

Eight new payers have arrived at the London Stadium for around £130 million, whilst we are obligated to spend around £30 million next summer in order to make Jean-Clair Todibo's loan move a permanent one.

The bottom line is that the Hammers squad is now on another level to the one left behind by David Moyes earlier this summer.

However, Lopetegui's hopes of strengthening his ranks even further still seem to have been dealt a blow today...

Manchester United could prevent 10/10 West Ham transfer window

Man United have been busy in the market themselves this summer.

Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are set to move to Old Trafford, and Erik ten Hag's business will be far from finished there.

Youssouf Fofana is on the Manchester United radar it seems - a player who has been heavily linked with a move to West Ham

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Fofana is closing in on a move to AC Milan, but they caveat that with the line 'watch out for United'.

Tuttomercatoweb claim that the Hammers are not in the race to sign the powerhouse 25-year-old midfielder anymore.

Monaco's asking price for Fofana has allegedly dropped from £30 million down to around £21 million - an absolute bargain in this day and age.

Listen, West Ham have enjoyed a fantastic transfer window - undoubtedly the best out of any club in the Premier League, or Europe for that matter.

However, the signing of Fofana would have been the icing on the cake for us. The Hammers still haven't replaced Declan Rice's ball carrying ability since he left to join Arsenal last summer.

The France international would have given us exactly that, but it seems like he won't be moving to East London this summer.

The 25-year-old has an incredible physique, but he's not all about pace and power. The Frenchman is very good with the ball at his feet as well, and has been described as an 'unreal' midfielder by Monaco's official website.

In 32 outings for Monaco last season, Fofana bagged four goals and four assists. During those appearances, he averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and one clearance per game (Who Scored).

With his pace, power, energy, dynamism and athleticism, the Monaco midfielder would be the ideal addition to the Hammers' midfield ranks this summer, and his skillset would complement Edson Alvarez perfectly.

However, it now seems like we're set to miss out on the powerful midfielder.

If Manchester United go on to sign Youssouf Fofana, the West Ham fans will undoubtedly be looking on with envy.

However, it seems as though the Monaco man will most likely join AC Milan this summer, and I'll be able to deal with that!
