Legendary Jamaican speed king shared his thoughts on the poor outing of his country at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Track legend Usain Bolt has expressed his displeasure on Jamaica's terrible outing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where no athlete from the Caribbean country won an individual sprint medal or in the relays.
Jamaica's Olympic campaign in Paris ended on a disappointing note when Andrenette Knight dropped the baton on the second leg of the women's 4x400m relay final, thus leaving the Olympics with no relay medals for the first time since 1980.
Reacting to the poor showing of his country in Paris, Bolt was forced to ask a question on his X page.
"A wah really a gwan in Babylon," he wrote.
Considered to be their worst performance in Olympics history, Jamaica ended with their lowest medal accumulation in over a decade with just 1 Gold, 3 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals as they finished 42nd out of 81 countries competing.
In comparison at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, the country carted home with 4 Gold, 1 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals - all coming from athletics.
While there may be several factors responsible for the decline, an argument can be made for the unfortunate injuries sustained by their top athletes Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shericka Jackson, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Frace, who are guaranteed medallists in the sprint at any major championship.
With the Paris 2024 Olympics over, the Jamaican Athletics Association will hope to regroup and avoid a repetition of another terrible outing ahead of the 2025 World Championships.
