Chelsea has 'agreement' to sign €55m winger, latest Romano bombshell claims

Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport has just dropped a little early afternoon Friday bombshell on us all.

He claims that Chelsea has an "agreement in principle" with Wolves for the transfer of Pedro Neto.

TransferMarkt value the winger at €55m, and it's hard to see him moving for less than that. We'd be shocked if super agent Jorge Mendes doesn't figure out a way of making it closer to €70m when all is said and done.

The links to Neto have been around for a while, and our writer Simon Phillips told us earlier in the summer that he is "universally liked" by our scouts, and seemingly by our sporting directors too.

Fabrizio Romano jumped right on the news, adding that we're in negotiations with the player and with Wolves, claiming that the 24 year old is "one of the main targets for winger position."

We really thought we were done with wingers, especially on the right where it felt like Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke were going to compete this season, with Brazilian superstar Estevao Willian and wonderkid Kendry Paez arriving next summer. But clearly there's a demand for yet more spending.

More players, more money spent, no clear plan

What do we think of this all? He's a really good player, and while his previous injuries are worrying, they don't seem to indicate any sort of long-term issues.  He's only 24, but has 111 Premier League appearances, so he is actually more experienced than most players in the squad.

It's hard to get your head around how this will all work out however - where does Neto fit in this team? Who do you sell to give him the minutes he needs? He's a versatile player, but where is his natural home given all the others we've got to fit in? As always with this ownership, there are instantly more questions than answers.
