Popular comedian, Kenny Blaq has clarified that contrary to the belief that he started music comedy in Nigeria, he didn't pioneer the genre.
He credited the late Gbenga Adeboye, CD John and others for paving the way for the music comedy genre in Nigeria.
He, however, claimed that he brought "the Wizkid and Davido vibe" to the genre.
Speaking in a recent interview with Hip TV, Blaq said,
"Because of the way I did music comedy, a lot of people have the impression that I brought music comedy to Nigeria. Some people think that I started music comedy as a genre.
"But they were music comedians like the late Gbenga Adeboye, Fung Otong, MC Miracle, Maleke and late CD John. But I think what made mine different is my approach towards it.
"I brought the Wizkid and Davido vibe into it. And I was able to do different genres of music with my comedy.
"Those who did music comedy before me, did a particular style of music comedy. They were either doing Igbo or Yoruba music.
"But I was doing mashup, covers, and I was telling stories and I was consistent with it.
"I did not start music comedy but I can say that I'm one of those that have made music comedy strong in this part of the world."
