Former Senate Chief Whip Ali Ndume has issued a public apology to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday for his remarks about President Bola Tinubu.
This apology barely four weeks after Ndume's removal from his position, following his controversial statement on Arise TV that claimed Tinubu was being isolated from the hardships faced by Nigerians.
After his dismissal, Ndume was replaced by Senator Tahir Monguno of Borno North.
The replacement was announced through a directive from the APC's National Chairman, Umar Ganduje, and National Secretary, Senator Bashir Ajibola.
In a meeting with the party's National Working Committee in Abuja, Ndume said he regrets not consulting the party before making his statements.
He admitted to his error and said that his comments, though strongly worded, were made out of patriotism.
Ndume also dismissed speculations about his expulsion from the party
He pledged his allegiance to the APC and said that he had not insulted President Tinubu or the party in his remarks.
APC National Chairman Ganduje acknowledged Ndume's apology and mentioned that the party would petition the Senate to reconsider his removal, saying that the issue was treated as an internal family matter within the party.
