Day 4: Protesters Continue in Kano Despite Bola Tinubu's Broadcast

According to reports, hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Kano on Sunday, marking the fourth consecutive day of demonstrations against hunger and bad governance.

This resurgence of protests occurred just hours after President Bola Tinubu addressed the nation, urging the youth to suspend their actions, claiming he had heard their concerns "loud and clear."

Despite Tinubu's call, the protests intensified as young people expressed their discontent with the government's handling of pressing issues, including insecurity and economic hardship.

The Kano State government, while seeking to ease tensions, had recently relaxed a stringent 24-hour curfew to allow residents some freedom during the day, now permitting movement from 8 AM to 2 PM.

Protesters gathered in several key locations, including Bakin Zuwo, Koki in Dala Local Government Area, Sharada in Kano Municipal, and Gadon Kaya in Gwale Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses reported a significant turnout, with demonstrators prominently waving the Russian flag, symbolizing their call for international assistance.

Malam Salisu, a local resident, noted the scale of the protest.

"I saw the protesters in their numbers around 10 AM. They were holding the Russian flag and protesting against issues of bad governance," he stated.

The demonstration was characterized by chants and slogans, with one prominent message being, "koya gyara sai ya sauka," which translates to, "whether he adjusts or not, he must go."
