People Are Hungry And Akpabio Said He Will Be In The House Eating While We Are Protesting- Protester

The first day of the End Bad Governance nationwide protests made a powerful impact across Nigeria, reflecting widespread discontent with the government. A female protester voiced her frustrations in an interview, criticizing the stark contrast between the lifestyles of government officials and ordinary citizens.

According to report, she highlighted the disparity, noting that while officials indulge in luxuries such as private jets, many Nigerians are homeless and struggling to survive. She emphasized the high cost of living, especially in Lagos, where people are forced to share cramped living spaces due to unaffordable rent.

The protester condemned the government for approving exorbitant budgets and purchasing private jets while citizens can't even afford basic transportation. She saw this as a blatant example of governmental neglect and insensitivity to the plight of the people, justifying the necessity of the protests.

She decried the government's actions as a form of wickedness, pointing out that while a presidential villa is being built, many Nigerians lack adequate housing. This, she argued, shows a profound disconnect between the government's priorities and the needs of the populace.

Her anger was palpable as she criticized the high cost of living and rent, making it clear that people are suffering and hungry. She referred to statements from officials like Akpabio, who suggested they would remain comfortable while citizens protested, as deeply insulting and emblematic of the larger problem. She concluded by stressing that if the government does not address these grievances, future generations will hold them accountable.

She said, "The government cannot be enjoying on our behalf. They are buying private jets, and people are staying under the bridge. They are building a presidential villa for you; we don't have places to stay. Have you seen the amount for house rent?. You cannot pay house rent in Lagos; ten people live inside one room. People are suffering, people are hungry, and Akpabio said he will be in the house eating while we are protesting. If we don't ask him, we will ask his children. Our children will ask his children what he has done to us. You're approving a budget of billions and buying private jets, and people cannot afford transport fares; that is wickedness, and you say they should not protest; we will protest."
