Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State recently addressed the concerns of the Igbo community regarding the impact of recent protests. He commented on the challenges faced by Igbos in different parts of Nigeria during periods of civil unrest.
In a video shared by Channels TV, Uzodinma noted that Igbo-owned shops in states such as Kano, Lagos, and Borno have been targets of attacks and looting. This troubling trend has caused significant anxiety among the Igbo people, who see their businesses as vulnerable during times of protests.
Uzodinma emphasized the widespread presence of Igbos in various business sectors across the country. He pointed out that these individuals contribute significantly to the economy by engaging in diverse commercial activities.
However, the governor expressed concern that during protests, some individuals exploit the situation to loot businesses, disproportionately affecting Igbo-owned shops. This opportunistic behaviour undermines the security and stability of Igbo entrepreneurs and their investments.
