Manchester United suffer double injury blow ahead of new Premier League season

Erik ten Hag's Manchester United will be without two key players for the first months of the upcoming Premier League season.

Manchester United have suffered a double injury blow with new defender Leny Yoro out for three months and striker Rasmus Hojlund ruled out for several weeks.

Yoro, who arrived from Lille for £52m, will miss three months with an injury sustained in Saturday's pre-season game against Arsenal.

The 18-year-old was spotted wearing a protective boot and using crutches at United's training base in Los Angeles, sparking fears of a serious injury.

Hojlund, who scored against Arsenal, will be sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring problem. He will miss the Liverpool game at Old Trafford on September 1 and several other key matches.

Yoro, Hojlund out with long-term injuries

Both players were forced off in the first half of the game against Arsenal, and further tests will determine the extent of their injuries. Yoro will remain with the team for the rest of their US tour before returning to the UK for further evaluation.

The injuries may revive United's interest in signing Jarred Branthwaite from Everton or Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich, both of whom were previously targeted by the club this summer.

Man United will face their rivals Man City in the Community Shield, one week before their Premier League opener against Fulham.
