A change to Viktor Gyokeres' contract clause has just given Liverpool and Arsenal their best chance of landing him this summer.
Both Premier League clubs are in the market for a new striker as they look to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.
One of the hottest strikers on the market right now is Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres after he ended last season with 43 goals and 15 assists across all competitions.
HITC revealed on Monday that Arsenal scouts were in attendance to watch Gyokeres in action against Athletic Bilbao over the weekend.
It is understood that Sporting are now prepared to accept bids under Gyokeres' £86million release clause this summer amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
There is also interest in Gyokeres from Chelsea, while Atletico Madrid are also keen if they can offload Joao Felix this summer.
Viktor Gyokeres clause paid off
Gyokeres signed for Sporting last year from Coventry City, and the Championship side inserted a sell-on clause in the deal.
The Sky Blues were set to be owed 15 percent of Gyokeres' future fee, but Sporting have now reached into their pocket to lower that figure to 10 percent.
As reported by Portuguese outlet Record, a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission reveals that Sporting paid 3 million Euros (£2.5million) to reduce Coventry's sell-on fee to 10 percent.
It is a tell-tale sign that Sporting are preparing to sell Gyokeres this summer and have paid to lower his sell-on clause to ensure they get the lion's share of the fee.
Clubs are now free to duel it out for Gyokeres' signature with the Swedish international not short of options.
Manchester United have previously shown an interest in Gyokeres but their £36million move for Joshua Zirkzee has addressed their need for a striker this summer.
