It is stories like Professor Mashudu Tshifulano that give the term black excellence a true meaning as he not only holds high education accolades but has embarked on successful discovery to help deaf patients hear again.
Prof Mashudu is an otorhinolaryngologist (ENT), a doctor specialising in diseases that affect the head, ears, nose, throat as well as neck.
Currently serving as an otorhinolaryngologist at Mediclinic in Pretoria, the soon-to-be 60-year-old specialist created a first in the world of inventions when led a team of specialists to successfully reconstruct middle ear implants using 3D-printed bones, at the University of Pretoria and Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
Serving both as a professor at the University of Pretoria and a medical specialist, the father of six became the only black and youngest ENT professor in South Africa back in the year 2000.
Born in Venda Prof Mashudu is a leading pastor and a leader at his church.
This black excellence acknowledgment that should be shared with many black children to make them believe that anything is possible with the right frame of mind, was recently celebrated by user @African Hub on X formerly known as Twitter:
The account caption its post:
