The Super Falcons had a game to forget against Brazil in their opening game at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria fell to a 1-0 defeat against Brazil in their opening group match of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Randy Waldrum's men started brightly but the Falcons failed to take their chances in the final third.
Brazil fans had cause to jubilate when veteran forward Marta found Gabi Nunes in the box, who blazed her effort past Chiamaka Nnadozie to give the South Americans the lead in the 37th minute.
Nunes' effort proved to be the difference between the two sides at the end of the first 45 minutes as the Falcons struggled defensively.
It was more of the same in the second period as Nigeria struggled to make the most of her chances at the Matmut Atlantique stadium in Bordeaux.
Despite boasting more possession, Waldrum's team could not convert their chances and were forced to drop points at the end of the 90 minutes as Nunes' first half strike gave Brazil all three points.
