Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has included five players of Nigerian descent in his squad for the club's pre-season tour in the United States.
The players are Tosin Adarabioyo, a new signing from Fulham, Carney Chukwuemeka, formerly of Aston Villa, Lesley Ugochukwu, who joined Chelsea from Rennes last summer, Noni Madueke, who joined from PSV last summer, and youngster Tyrique George.
Adarabioyo will compete with Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, and Benoit Badiashile for the center-back role.
Chukwuemeka and Ugochukwu, who are being eyed by AC Milan and Everton respectively, must impress Maresca to secure their places in the team.
Madueke has also been linked with a move to Newcastle United.
Chelsea began their pre-season campaign with a 2-2 draw against Wrexham in the US on Thursday, July 24.
Their remaining pre-season fixtures include matches against Celtic, Club America, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.
The Blues will kick off their Premier League campaign with huge test against title holders Manchester City on August 18.
