Manchester United have announced some numerical changes ahead of the US Tour commencing this week, with one major change.
It's bad news on Wednesday for any Manchester United fan who has already got their new Rasmus Hojlund No.11 shirt, with the club announcing that he has a new number for the 2024/25 season.
Hojlund ended his first season at Old Trafford as the club's top goalscorer with 16 in all competitions, a remarkable tally considering how slow life in Manchester began for him.
He has only just returned to Carrington, with his Euro 2024 participation meaning he had extended leave, but will now be on the plane to Los Angeles on Wednesday before featuring against Arsenal on Sunday morning.
Now, prior to the tour commencing, Hojlund has been handed a new United shirt number which he will wear for the 2024/25 season and onwards.
Rasmus Hojlund handed a new shirt number for United
After much speculation over shirt number swaps, now we've seen a pretty major move take place and it's involving the great Dane striker for United.
Hojlund has been given the No.9 shirt at Manchester United, taking over the mantle from Anthony Martial who departed the club for free at the end of June.

The club announced this on Wednesday, first with a teasing tweet, before announcing the number update 40 minutes later.
This leaves the number 11 shirt open and there are some possible players who could fill it, with Joshua Zirkzee most likely, followed by potentially Amad Diallo.

We've only seen one image of the new Hojlund No.9 shirt, yet it already looks the part and makes more sense than No.11.
Man Utd number nine shirt number history
A move to donning the number nine shirt suits Hojlund, and it'll see him follow in the footsteps of some of the club's best-ever strikers.
Most recently wearing the No.9 was Martial, with the Frenchman holding the shirt for two separate occasions, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic taking it off him.
Martial scored 90 goals and had 47 assists for United in 317 appearances, mostly while wearing the No.9. Now, it's up to Hojlund to continue the shirt's legacy and he'll also have some footballing legends to follow in the footsteps of.
So with this in mind, Hojlund has a hefty history on his shoulders, but if he can continue to impress and build on a strong first season, he could end up on the list of icons to have worn No.9 at United in the future.
