WhatsApp to run without Internet soon, company adds new feature

WhatsApp to run without Internet

WhatsApp has been constantly working on improving the user experience by bringing new features. Reportedly, the message-sharing application is planning to bring a new feature that will allow users to share files and run WhatsApp without the internet just like iPhone Airdrop.

According to reports, the social media giant is currently working on a file-sharing feature with people nearby. With this new feature, one will be able to share documents, photos, videos, and other files to nearby devices without using the internet.

The report shared a screenshot of the beta testing application which showed a scanner on the screen. This scanner will help to share photos, videos, and other files. The screenshot also reveals that the social media platform is considering adding a new feature to its iOS application. This new feature will allow iOS users to share files with nearby individuals just like Apple's Airdrop function.

How does it work?

The file-sharing feature on WhatsApp uses a distinct method. The users who want to share the file have to scan a QR code to send it. The iOS version is different from the Android version as the Android utilizes nearby device detection technology to enable file transfer.

Sharing files without the internet is expected to enhance the file transfer experience. This feature will be especially useful for sharing large files like high-quality photos, videos, and documents. This feature will work across different platforms, including Android and iOS, regardless of the type of device users or contacts are using.

Additionally, this feature is compatible with end-to-end encryption and will ensure that only the intended recipient can access the content.
