President Joe Biden is set to deliver what is expected to be his final Oval Office speech on Wednesday evening, explaining his recent decision to withdraw from the upcoming November presidential election.

The address, set for 8:00 pm ET, will mark a significant moment as the 81-year-old Democrat seeks to clarify his intentions and reassure the nation about the remaining months of his presidency.

Biden's decision to step aside, which came after weeks of mounting pressure and a notably poor debate performance against former President, Donald Trump, has reshaped the political landscape.

Vice President, Kamala Harris, who is now effectively the Democratic nominee, will face Trump in what promises to be a contentious election battle.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Biden hinted at the theme he will cover in his speech, saying he plans to discuss "what lies ahead, and how I will finish the job for the American people."

The address will be Biden's first public appearance since his withdrawal announcement, which he made while isolating with COVID-19 at his Delaware beach home.

This upcoming speech will be Biden's fourth Oval Office address during his presidency, following his recent remarks after the assassination attempt on Trump on July 13.

Despite stepping out of the race, Biden is expected to emphasize that he remains committed to his presidential duties, with a focus on economic issues and seeking a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Republican critics have argued that Biden should resign from office entirely, questioning his fitness to serve.

However, Biden has maintained that he still has significant work to do and intends to continue his efforts for the American people until the end of his term.
