Colombian Drug Lord Escobar Escapes From Prison

Also, on this day in 1992, Columbian drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar escaped from his luxury prison using a gun and a cellphone. His disappearance happened after 400 soldiers were deployed to move him to a government monitored prison.

Escobar, notorious for numerous murders and a spot on Forbes' richest list, overpowered guards with 14 accomplices. The violence resulted in at least two deaths. President Cesar Gaviria ordered Escobar's transfer after suspicions of continued drug operations from prison.
