Trump Sends Major Threat to Iran
On July 22, 2018, President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a Twitter post.
See the post below:
His response followed Rouhani's warning to Trump about pursuing aggressive policies towards Tehran. Rouhani had stated: "War with Iran is the mother of all wars." He added, "You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran's security and interests," referencing reports of Washington's attempts to destabilize Iran's Islamic government.
Despite his strong rhetoric, Rouhani did not dismiss the possibility of peace between the two nations. This heated exchange came amid escalating tensions, which have increased since Trump withdrew the U.S. from a nuclear agreement with Iran that was established during the Obama administration.
Colombian Drug Lord Escobar Escapes From Prison
Also, on this day in 1992, Columbian drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar escaped from his luxury prison using a gun and a cellphone. His disappearance happened after 400 soldiers were deployed to move him to a government monitored prison.
Escobar, notorious for numerous murders and a spot on Forbes' richest list, overpowered guards with 14 accomplices. The violence resulted in at least two deaths. President Cesar Gaviria ordered Escobar's transfer after suspicions of continued drug operations from prison.
After no tunnel was found in the prison, Escobar's escape remains both mysterious and unexplained. Imprisoned since June 1991 to avoid U.S. extradition, Escobar called reporters during his escape, vowing to fight to the death.
