Manchester United legend and former captain of the French national team, Patrice Evra, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison in France with suspended probation.
As per Olt Sports, Evra was convicted by a criminal court in France for family abandonment.
He is facing unpaid alimony close to €1 million.
Evra is known for his successful career with Manchester United, where he won 14 trophies, including five Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League.
He also represented France in five major international tournaments, such as the UEFA European Championships and FIFA World Cup.
Subsequently, following a brief contract with West Ham United in February 2018, Evra officially retired from professional football in July 2019.
After retiring from professional football in 2019, Evra ventured into a coaching role and rejoined his former club, Manchester United, as a trainee coach at the club's academy.
Evra was known for his speed, athleticism, strength, and adaptability on the field.
The 43-year-old was regarded as one of the best left-backs in Europe.
