Wike: The declaration of their seats vacant will send them back to their villages-Siminalayi Fubara

According to a report from Newsmen, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State reflected on the recent political defections of lawmakers in the state and the consequential rift it has created. Fubara attributed the miscalculations of the defectors to divine intervention, stating that their departure has irreparably divided their ranks.

He recalled his past efforts to foster unity and provide assistance despite differences with these lawmakers. However, he suggested that they underestimated the seriousness of their decisions. The governor emphasized that the declaration of their seats as vacant in December 2023 is the definitive factor sealing their fate.

Fubara clarified that his administration has no plans to adjust the budget to overturn this decision, effectively ensuring the removal of the defectors from their legislative positions. He expressed his commitment to preparing the 2025 budget, prioritizing education, healthcare, and agriculture.

As per report, He remarked, "We all knew what happened when they crossed (defected), and how did they cross? Because of our God, for them to make that mistake, they crossed! They are gone, and they are gone. Now, let me tell you: when I wanted to help them, I accepted to help them because we are all one. We disagree to agree as it is said.

But they thought they are smart. What is holding them is the declaration of their seats vacant that was done on December 13, 2023. That is what is holding them. We are not doing any budget to nullify that decision. It is what will send them to their villages. For me, as I am talking to you, I have started preparing my budget for 2025, which I am going to present very soon. And, in that budget, my key areas will be education, healthcare and agriculture
