Bruno Fernandes has spoken out after Manchester United agreed a deal
Bruno Fernandes has sent a heartfelt message to Donny van de Beek following the confirmation of his departure from Manchester United. The Dutch midfielder, who joined the Red Devils in 2020 from Ajax for £35million, struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford, making just 62 appearances during a disappointing four-year stint.
Van de Beek's exit marks the first major departure of the summer for United, as they gear up to offload other players such as Mason Greenwood under the new leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.
The 27-year-old, who had loan spells at Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt, is set to complete a move to La Liga outfit Girona. The transfer deal is reportedly worth £420,000, potentially rising to £12.7m.
Portuguese ace Fernandes, who arrived at United just before Van de Beek, shared a touching message with his former teammate. "You deserve the best," he wrote, accompanied by a red heart emoji.
Van de Beek also took to Instagram to express his feelings about leaving the club, despite his on-pitch struggles, he seemed to have enjoyed his time off the pitch. He penned: "Dear Manchester United family. Today is a memorable day as my adventure at the club comes to an end. I want to thank you all for your support throughout the years."
