Former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has opened up about his decision to become a pastor.

He, alongside his wife Larissa Pereira, co-founded an evangelical church in Maceió, Brazil, where he now serves as a pastor.

Memorable Anfield Career

Firmino's time with the Reds was decorated with both personal and team achievements after a successful eight-year spell.

The 31-year-old notched 111 goals and 75 assists across 362 appearances, contributing to Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup triumphs.

New Challenge in Saudi Arabia

Despite his impressive Liverpool tenure, Firmino opted for a change of scenery, joining Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League.

However, adapting to his new environment hasn't been easy, he recorded 9 goals and 7 assists in 34 matches to help Al-Ahli finished the season in third place.

In his recently released autobiography "Si Senor: My Liverpool Years," Firmino sheds light on his departure.

He describes it as a "difference in understanding" regarding his role at Liverpool, ultimately believing it was God's plan to lead him elsewhere.

He mentions a pivotal conversation with Pastor Daniel in Maceio that solidified his decision.

Time for a New Chapter

Firmino acknowledges his resistance to leaving initially but ultimately accepted it as a chance to pursue a new purpose.

He emphasizes the positive memories of his Liverpool journey and expresses gratitude for the club's role in fulfilling his and his family's dreams.

Beyond his reflection on his football career, Firmino has recently embarked on a new path. He expressed in a joint social media statement, "We want people to feel this love that reached us... Now we have another desire and responsibility to become pastors on behalf of God."
