Finidi George's Replacement: Roberto Landi Explains Why It Will Be a Dream to Coach the Super Eagles

Italian coach Roberto Landi has expressed his desire to manage the Nigerian national team once again, saying that it would be an honour to be considered for the role, as the hunt for a new Super Eagles coach drags on. Taking to social media, Landi outlined his credentials and why he would be an excellent coach for the Super Eagles after he recently expressed interest in the position.

The chance to represent more than 200 million people and the rich football heritage of Nigeria were two of Landi's main reasons for expressing his desire to coach the national team in an interview with Punch Sports. For a coach, leading a top senior national team like Nigeria's is, indeed, the stuff of dreams. Coaching Nigeria would be a dream come true, according to Landi, because the country represents over 200 million people and is one of the top 20 strongest in the world. If you ask Massimiliano Allegri and a few Serie A coaches, they would agree.

Landi is confident in his qualifications and experience as a coach having worked in Liberia and Romania before. Nigerian football supporters' reactions to his interest statement have been divided, with some rooting for him and others voicing scepticism.

With Finidi George's abrupt resignation after only 47 days as coach of the Super Eagles, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has failed to name a successor. A number of other managers, such as Antonio Conceicao, Luis Fernandez, Joaquin Caparros, Didier Six, Miguel Herrera, and Didier Caparros, have been linked to the position of head coach.
