TODAY IN HISTORY: Suarez Thrown Out After Biting a Player During World Cup Match

Despite the controversy, Uruguay won the match 1-0, advancing to the knockout stage. However, Suarez, one of the world's top forwards, was absent for the remainder of the tournament. While slamming the penalties on Suarez, Claudio Sulser, chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, noted, "Such behavior cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at a FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field."
