Chelsea fans stunned after seeing how much Cole Palmer earns per week

Chelsea fans can't quite believe how much Cole Palmer is earning per week at Stamford Bridge.

In the two years since Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly completed their takeover of Chelsea, the Premier League giants have conducted some questionable transfer business.

Over £1 billion has been spent on transfers, with huge contracts handed out left, right and centre.

Many of the signings have so far failed to live up to their billing, but that certainly cannot be said of Cole Palmer.

The 22-year-old swapped Manchester City for Chelsea last summer and enjoyed an exceptional first season in London.

Palmer scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists in 34 league outings in 2023-24, and ended the campaign by winning the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.

The attacker's superb performances earned him a place in the England squad for Euro 2024, although Gareth Southgate did not introduce Palmer from the bench in either of of his side's two matches so far.

While Chelsea did splash £42.5m on Palmer, they made sure that he fit into their new wage structure, designed to bring down the wage bill that had sky-rocketed in the early days of the Boehly era.

According to Capology, the youngster earns £75,000 per week, considerably less than the likes of Raheem Sterling (£325,000), Reece James (£250,000), Ben Chilwell (£200,000) and Wesley Fofana (£200,000).

Given how much better than his teammates Palmer was in 2023-24, Chelsea fans couldn't believe his relatively modest wage.

"Cole Palmer on 70k lol," one fan commented on X, while another said: "Reece [James], Chilly [Chilwell], Wes [Fofana] making over £30m combined while barely playing for us is a joke.

"But not as big of a joke as Malang Sarr making 120K a week..."

One fan wrote: "Cole Palmer fits into the wage structure perfectly. He was inexperienced with a lot of potential. Don't think anyone expected how good he would be."

A fourth fan highlighted the wages Crystal Palace attacker Michael Olise - who now looks set to join Bayern Munich - was demanding in order to join Chelsea.

"Olise wanted three times as much as Palmer but he's not even as good as him," the fan said.
